Juxtapoz Magazine - Malparaiso: JM Ramirez-Suassi's Photographic Labyrinth of Lost Eden
Briefly

Space is a labyrinth. Paths always lead to other paths, which in turn lead to other paths and other paths. The photographs in this book, in a course without precise coordinates, without compasses, and crossing invisible borders, stretch out in all directions, forming a spider's web of landscapes, human beings, and curiosities.
Malparaíso is an imaginary place, an Eden already lost which must consolidate a 'place' in the creative experience. The photographs in this book explore themes of paradise, racism, identity, migration, violence, and humanity, ultimately presenting a tableau vivant of human idleness and a subtle allegory of lethargy.
Exploring the classic motif of paradise, the photographer delves into a personal journey intertwined with themes of racism, identity, migration, violence, and precariousness. The images depict a complex reality, reflecting both rage and pain alongside beauty, hope, and humanity, capturing the multifaceted essence of human existence.
