An unstable person armed with knife trespassed into the Hayward BART train yard early Thursday and barricaded in a building around 6:40 a.m. Police believed there was no danger to the public and safely evacuated the yard. BART dispatchers rerouted trains from other yards to maintain service. BART limited Green Line service between Berryessa and Daly City while the Orange Line between Berryessa and Richmond remained fully open. Riders traveling from Berryessa needed to transfer to complete trips to Daly City. Police handled the situation at the yard and the incident did not cause major systemwide disruptions.
