Rankin appointed Airdrieonians head coach
Airdrieonians appointed John Rankin as head coach after parting with Aaron Taylor-Sinclair following relegation to Scottish League 1 through the play-offs. Rankin joined after a short interim spell as Ayr United manager. He previously made more than 100 appearances as a midfielder for Ross County, Hibernian, and Dundee United. He also spent two and a half years as head coach of Hamilton Academical from 2022 to 2025. Rankin described the situation as a blank canvas, saying only a handful of players remain and that everything needs to be built. He emphasized the opportunity to put his own stamp on the team.
""It's a blank canvas, I think there's only a handful of players," Rankin told Airdrieonians' website. "Everything needs built and that's probably the point where you think you can put your own stamp on it.""
