While I could not take up arms, I could take up my baton as my weapon instead. All of the orchestra, and many members of our audiences, have similar stories to tell.
We had hoped that our first tour would also be our last, and the war would be over. But here we are, two years later. The war goes on and continues to exact its devastating toll.
In the wider world, the assurances made in 2022 that a staunchly united west would support Ukraine, come what may, appear less certain.
