Mountain lion spotted walking on Main Street in downtown Vacaville

Residents are asked to keep any pets or children indoors and encouraged to keep their food garbage secured so as to avoid attracting the predator.
If they spot a mountain lion, citizens are asked to pick up small children without bending over and walk away slowly without turning around.
Officials say anyone who sees a mountain lion is urged to immediately contact the Vacaville Police Department at (707) 499-5200 and/or the Wildlife Management hotline at (916) 358-2917.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and avoid approaching the animal if spotted, maintaining an escape route for the animal.
