A 40-man roster spot was open after outfielder Taylor Trammell got designated for assignment to make way for Jon Berti's return to the active roster.
Although White was able to keep a low ERA for that short sample in 2023 (1.64), the untenable walk rate has come back to bite him in his 2024 campaign with 15 runs allowed in 7.2 innings with Durham.
Taking all of that into consideration, the upside with this arm is certainly there and if the Yankees can help White regain some semblance of control at Somerset and Scranton with his fastball/splitter combo, the sky is the limit.
