"When I bought the house, it had an old bar in the basement,"
"I had to get rid of it, because it was falling apart, but I always think, 'My goodness, if this bar could talk.'"
"I would like it to stay with the house as a piece of history,"
"So it's that kind of history that's here."
Lena Horne's former Addisleigh Park Tudor residence in Queens, built in 1935, is listed for $1.225 million and is on the market for the first time in more than two decades. The three-level house offers 2,287 square feet, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a finished basement. The property has changed ownership only twice since Horne lived there from 1946 to 1962. Original hardwood floors remain and a wooden sideboard once owned by Horne still sits in the living room. The current seller purchased the home in 2004, updated some areas but retained the original layout. Addisleigh Park has long attracted prominent Black figures and retains multigenerational residents.
