Padlock to Protect' shuts down more than 750 illegal cannabis vendors citywide: Mayor Adams | amNewYork
Briefly

Crate after crate of confiscated, illegal cannabis and other products filled the Bronx warehouse where Gov. Kathy Hochul, Mayor Eric Adams and law enforcement personnel took a victory lap Wednesday over the success of Operation Padlock to Protect.
The warehouse in the Bronx's Wakefield neighborhood was lined with shelves holding up big crates of assorted, seized products - plastic bags of dried marijuana buds, gummy candies resembling popular snacks, and even cannabis contained in what appeared to be crayon boxes. Mayor Adams highlighted the marketing tactics geared towards children.
Mayor Adams emphasized the shift in illegal smoke shops targeting young people, using products familiar to children like candies and even packaging cannabis in materials resembling video game boxes and crayon containers.
Under Operation Padlock to Protect, the city has imposed over $65 million in civil penalties to combat the proliferation of illegal cannabis shops and to ensure the safety of the community.
