During a segment on Fox & Friends Weekend, Rachel Campos-Duffy toured the ICE detention facility known as Delaney Hall in Newark, NJ, expressing surprise at its cleanliness. This comes amidst ongoing protests against the center, where accusations of inhumane treatment have surfaced. Campos-Duffy contrasted the facility's orderliness with that of many American high schools, claiming it was impressive. The detention center currently holds about 152 migrants. The protests intensified recently, resulting in the arrest of Newark's Mayor, who allegedly disregarded orders from the Department of Homeland Security.
Campos-Duffy noted that despite the protests surrounding Delaney Hall, she found the facility remarkably clean and orderly, highlighting its comparability to U.S. high schools.
Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the actions of lawmakers protesting at the facility and asserted that such acts endangered both law enforcement and detainees.
