Phillies Acquire Jonah Dipoto From Royals
Briefly

Jonah Dipoto, son of Mariners' executive, traded from Royals to Phillies for cash considerations. Assigned to Triple-A. Dipoto previously had a successful season in the upper minors.
Despite modest draft status, Dipoto performed well in Double-A and Triple-A, showcasing a 3.55 ERA and striking out 26% of opponents. Dipoto's recent performance in 2024 for Omaha has been inconsistent.
Phillies aim for Dipoto to regain his prior form post-trade. Longenhagen praised Dipoto's pitching ability, particularly his plus slider, and ranked him 38th within the K.C. system last year.
Philadelphia incurs minimal cost for Dipoto transaction. No 40-man spot needed as he wasn't on the Kansas City roster. Dipoto remains eligible for Rule 5 draft in December if not selected.
