Major Overground disruptions planned for FOUR weekends
Briefly

Engineers will be replacing more than 570 wheel timbers, which are used to hold the rails in place. The current ones installed are said to be in poor condition, which means they are more likely to cause track faults which lead to delays for passengers. This essential work aims to enhance safety and reliability for the numerous passengers who rely on these services.
The disruptions will occur across several weekends, significantly impacting the Overground and District lines. Key dates include September 7 and 8, where there will be no Overground service between Richmond and Gospel Oak, along with resultant District line service interruptions.
On September 14 and 15, services will continue to be affected with no Overground between Richmond and South Acton until 1 pm on the Saturday, and all day Sunday, as well as District line interruptions. It’s crucial for passengers to plan their travels accordingly during this period.
Overall, this maintenance, which involves not only the replacement of the wheel timbers but also upgrades to train detection systems and signal enhancements, is aimed at ensuring the safety and efficiency of the railway infrastructure.
