B.C. woman slams 'outrageous' partnership between Canada's largest seniors' advocacy group and Big Tobacco | CBC News

Ellen Gould, a CARP member, was shocked to discover a focus group sponsored by a tobacco company through CARP, as she believed it advocates for seniors' health.
Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) funded the project, claiming to transition from cigarette sales to vaping, despite Health Canada warnings on vaping chemicals' risks.
"CARP should be advocating for smoking and vaping cessation programs, rather than promoting vaping to seniors," stated Gould, emphasizing the need for better advocacy.
Gould canceled her CARP membership after feeling offended by the association's involvement with Big Tobacco and encouragement for seniors to participate in the vaping focus group.
