First school to ban smartphones adds to pressure on Starmer to protect children

Fulham Boys School will start the new school year with a policy of so-called brick phones only for pupils aged between 11 and 16 amid concerns that smartphones were being used to watch porn and harmful influencers like the misogynist Andrew Tate.
Almost 80 percent of parents surveyed also want their child's school to do more to educate pupils about the dangers of social media, underlining a pressing demand for more protection.

According to the UK parents surveyed by HMD, 61 percent said they were concerned about their child's phone use and the content they were accessing during their summer holiday break.
