BLOOM screens girl dormitory's concrete skeleton with woven bamboo skin in cambodia
Briefly

The Takhmau Boarding School by BLOOM Architecture integrates a concrete framework for durability and a porous bamboo enclosure to enhance natural ventilation and student privacy, designed to adapt to the NGO's changing requirements.
Bamboo, usually used in Southeast Asia for small-scale scaffolding, was innovative in this project, inspiring tridimensional structures that expand interior spaces while providing a sense of privacy and serenity.
Support functions positioned in two opposite corners, with dormitories on the cooler East side and common areas on the West offering sunset views. An amphitheater connects floors socially.
The design creates a common courtyard, emphasizes sustainability, and utilizes a planted alleyway to enhance the green ambiance, showcasing the blend of robust structure and organic skin for a harmonious learning environment.
