A Nazi Villa So Tainted Berlin Can't Give It Away
Briefly

Behind thickets of beech trees, overgrown with nettles and beside a blue lake an hour north of Berlin, a villa that once belonged to a Nazi mastermind quietly rots.
Berlin has given up on selling or developing the villa due to it being too burdensome, expensive, and tainted by history. They now offer to give it away for free.
Stefan Evers, the State of Berlin's senator for finance, expressed the ultimatum: 'Take it off our hands, or we will tear it down,' sparking global interest in prospective takers.
The estate by the Bogensee lake includes not only the villa for Joseph Goebbels but also dormitories built later by the Communist Party, forming a campus with echoes of two totalitarian regimes.
