Twelve lots of Vanderbilt family jewels sold out at Phillips' Geneva Jewels Auction, contributing CHF 3.42 million to the sale's CHF 13.7 million (about $17 million) total. Ninety-six of 113 lots sold, an 85 percent sell-through rate. The Vanderbilt Sapphire, a 42-karat sugarloaf Kashmir sapphire set in a Tiffany & Co. diamond brooch, sold for CHF 2.88 million ($3.57 million), above its $1–1.5 million estimate. Signed jewels achieved a 90 percent sell rate, including a Cartier Magnificent diamond brooch for $560,582 and a Bulgari Serpenti belt for $368,383. The preview and sale hosted over 1,600 visitors with bids from 44 countries. An online Geneva auction continues through November 13 and a New York Jewels Auction is scheduled for December 8.
