Gardai use AI to identify Irish teen catfish victim and man suspected of sharing images of her online
Briefly

Detective Sergeant Paul Johnstone from the Garda National Cybercrime Bureau (GNCB) revealed details of the ongoing case today at the Annual National Prosecutors' Conference hosted by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Convention Centre Dublin this morning.
He identified the case of a 14-year-old girl who wrongly believed she was speaking to another 14-year-old girl and then shared sexualised images of herself though social media.
The child has now had an intervention appropriately, and there's potential prosecution as far as the suspect is concerned. So that's where AI comes into play at a basic constructive and practical level.
