Apple, Microsoft granted exemptions from incoming EU digital legislation
Apple and Microsoft have won a victory after the EU found that iMessage and Bing should not be designated as gatekeepers under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The new DMA will still apply to parent companies such as Apple and Microsoft, as well as other tech giants like Google and Amazon. [ more ]
Nothing's iMessage app was a security catastrophe, taken down in 24 hours
Nothing Chat, a chat app from Android manufacturer 'Nothing' and Sunbird, claimed to be able to hack into Apple's iMessage protocol but faced immediate backlash for security issues.
The app was found to have unsecure practices, including storing messages in plain text and sending authentication tokens over unencrypted HTTP.
Nothing pulled the app from the Play Store after less than 24 hours and Sunbird's app has also been put 'on pause.' [ more ]
