For Dodgers fans, it's been easy to feel like when rookie Bobby Miller is on the mound, the team has a good chance of winning.Heading into Saturday night's start, he'd been exceptional, posting a 0.78 ERA over his first 4 career starts.But struggled through his worst start as a big leaguer to, unfortunately, pick up his first big league loss.

Entering the season, the Dodgers ' dependence on young starters seemed like the biggest potential pitfall facing their pitching staff.In a disheartening 7-5 defeat to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night, though, it was abundantly clear the real holes are in the bullpen.

After dropping their last three series and losing six of their last eight games, the Dodgers got a day off and returned home.Rested up, they were at least able to take the first game of this series from the White Sox, jumping out to an early lead and cruising comfortable from there in a 5-1 victory.

A diminished fastball did not equal diminishing returns for Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin, who blanked the Chicago White Sox on two hits through six innings of Tuesday night's 5-1 victory before a crowd of 45,561 in Chavez Ravine.Gonsolin, pitching on six days' rest-two more than normal-because the Dodgers felt he needed more recovery time between starts, struck out six, walked two and allowed only one runner to reach second base.
